The Ministry of Energy and Emirates Youth Council for Oil, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, have launched a first-of-its-kind awareness initiative to offer lectures in the field of oil and gas to teachers. The initiative has been introduced in line with the announcement of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan that 2017 will be the Year of Giving in the UAE. The programme was launched in the presence of Ahmed Mohammad Al Kaabi, Assistant Under-Secretary for Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy, and the President of the Emirates Youth Council for Oil and a few of its members, and Khawla Al Hosni, Director of Training and Professional Development at the Ministry of Education. The volunteer initiative by the Emirates Youth Council for Oil aims to offer the best to serve the country and its citizens and spread the petroleum culture, in addition to creating awareness on the importance of conserving energy and maintaining its sources to achieve sustainability for future generations, Al Kaabi affirmed. During the co-ordination meeting to prepare an initial plan to execute this initiative, he suggested that the members of the Emirates Youth Council reach out to 30 members each, including highly qualified personnel, in various oil and gas companies in the country. The lectures will cover some 700 teachers specialising in the field of social studies, Al Hosni revealed. The Ministry of Education had also launched an educational curriculum for students of the 10th grade last year to keep them abreast of petroleum affairs.
